Stephen Budd is a record producer manager, rock festival owner / promoter and artist manager. He started his career as a teenage roadie for Motorhead, Generation X and many other punk bands, but before long ventured into artist, record producer and songwriter management via Stephen Budd Management. His Grammy winning clients are responsible for hits by Dido, Franz Ferdinand, Cee-lo, Santana, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, The Cure, John Legend, Björk, U2 and many others. Stephen co-founded SuperVision Artist Management in 1999 (which now represents Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, White Lies, The Vaccines, The Cribs) and sold that business to Channelfly Plc (now a part of HMV) for whom he became a director before it morphed into the MAMA Group Plc. Artists Stephen currently manages include The Magic Numbers and Dry the River. In July 2010 Stephen was asked to join the UK Prime Minister’s trade mission to India, accompanying David Cameron and in December 2010 co-founded the hugely successful Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival there, India’s first ‘non-Bollywood, Indie Music’ festival in Pune. He is a co-owner of the boutique Honeyfest in Wiltshire, ‘The First Festival Of The Year’ (April 2011’s event featured Laura Marling and Damien Rice). Stephen created the ‘Passport: Back to the Bars’ charity concert project (featuring Amy Winehouse, The Cure, and David Gray) and is a co-founder of the Africa Express musical collaborations project alongside Blur / Gorillaz front man Damon Albarn, which features African artists playing together with western artists. Stephen is a founder/council member of the ‘Music Managers Forum’ trade association.
